It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun – and that’s certainly held true for this year. It seems like just yesterday that Content Marketing World Sydney 2013 came and went in a flurry of insight and inspiration.
Last year’s event was the first of its kind in Australia. It boasted world-class content marketing experts and big international and local brands sharing their content marketing secrets to a room packed with marketers and journalists. For me, the event was a sign of validation for King Content that the local market was starting to grow up and that content marketing was here to stay.
It certainly wasn’t always like this. When we launched King Content back in 2010, there wasn’t even a ripple of discussion around content marketing in Australia. In fact, there was something akin to deathly silence.
As we were one of the only pure content marketing agencies in the country, attending our first Content Marketing World in the United States in 2011 was an electrifying experience! We sat there wide-eyed, energised and thinking, “We were right! There’s something sticky and magnetic about content marketing, but do we have an industry or not? Will the budgets leave traditional media and come to us?”
We garnered a lot of belief, insight and aspiration from that first Content Marketing World – and every one that we’ve attended since. The 24 months that have followed our first experience with Content Marketing World have been a great time for our agency and the Australian industry as a whole, with great brands wanting to know more about developing content for their owned assets rather than just spending money on paid media.
After many late-night conference calls, last year we convinced Joe Pulizzi and his Content Marketing Institute team that he should make the extraordinary step of growing the CMW brand into international markets. Not London, not Hong Kong, but even further afield: Sydney. Well, the great thing is they jumped at the chance and last year’s Content Marketing World 2013 in Sydney represented a watershed moment in the local market. And what’s more, the buzz from that event has grown into an unstoppable conversation.
Which brings me to the exciting fact that Content Marketing World is coming back to Sydney in April 2014! Doubling in size from last year, it will have a bigger agenda, a fantastic mix of local and international experts and, most rewarding of all, the opportunity to hang out with like-minded content marketers and passionate advocates of this segment. It would be an understatement to say I’m looking forward to it.
I’ve spoken with a lot of marketers, journalists and senior execs about the 2013 event over the past year and the consistent response seems to be, “I wish I’d gone to that.” Well, here’s your chance to make sure you’re not disappointed two years in a row.
Register today and secure your position at the one content marketing conference you can’t afford to miss in 2014.
I’ll certainly be there – learning and sharing knowledge with the best in the business.
